Hello,
I have a 12kg ceiling lamp that I want to hang in our dining room where there is wood paneling on the ceiling that is about 10mm thick.
Unfortunately, there is no joist/batten where the lamp needs to hang, which leaves me to attach it directly to the paneling.
How much load can a wood panel of these dimensions withstand straight downwards?

It should work, but if you have a long enough hook, you will eventually find wood. You probably have a wooden ceiling that holds the insulation in place. I'm assuming it's a relatively old house?

Then I guess it's not very far to the wood! Another solution could be to buy a wooden rosette that you can screw into the ceiling with four long screws. Then you can hang the lamp on a hook that goes through both the rosette and the panel.

Can be painted in the same color as the ceiling. Just pre-drill first.
