Many have probably built their dream houses, but after a while, you realize there are things you either had no idea existed or things you never thought about that you should have had in your house.

I thought this thread could gather our knowledge about things you should consider if you want them in your house.

Some examples:

Hidden wiring for speakers or video media.
Network outlets
A laundry chute from the upper floor directly into the laundry room.

Or like I fixed myself when we expanded the basement, a wood inlet:

A metal duct for a wood chute is installed through a concrete wall in a construction site. A ladder and scattered tools can be seen nearby.

Outdoor air to the stove routed through the slab. But that might be obvious? It's good to keep in mind to insulate around the pipe so the cold outdoor air doesn't cool down the slab and the underfloor heating in the winter. That's when you burn!

Contact the tile setter and tell him that he is taking his time and that you will give him 5 thousand extra if he is meticulous. I have seen too many expensive bathrooms with poorly thought-out tiling, ugly plastic moldings, bad grouting, and carelessly placed tiles.
