When we bought our house, we thought the cabinet doors were covered with wallpaper, but from the kitchen drawing from 1969, it was evident that the material is called "vävlaminat." It consists of a very hard board with a weave on it. The weave seems to be laminated against the board because it doesn't feel like wallpaper at all - the surface is much smoother. And it seems to work in the kitchen - despite the kitchen being 43 years old, the weave looks fresh except at the knobs and on the doors under the sink. The frames around the laminate seem to be stained pine, and should be possible to freshen up.

The question, however, is what "vävlaminat" actually is as a material. How should it be maintained? Is it available today? When was it manufactured? Etc. I've searched, but not even Google has any answers.

Almost 8 years later, and the question is still relevant. The subject is completely ungoogleable.

Can this weave on a disc be called anything other than weave laminate?
