Hello!
I'm currently building a deck that will be 12 x 5.
I've reached the beam stage, and the "frame" itself is up.
The deck is attached to the facade.
I'm setting the beams with joist hangers. The decking is 28x128.
I've noticed that I need 20 beams to have 60 cc but only have 15 left.

So my question is, can I "adjust" this so that 15 beams are enough? For example, have 70 cc instead of 60 cc?
I'd like to know the disadvantages if I go with 70 cc instead!

Thanks in advance!

The disadvantages include more flex and you also get a lot of waste since lengths are adapted for cc600...
Type... 3600, 4200, 4800, 5400mm

okay. Well then it might be just as well to go and buy 5 more instead of being stingy and making it uncertain:P

I wouldn't have more than 60 cc with that thickness of decking. It will flex in an "unpleasant" way. Also, Paul has a good point. The saved rule costs you on the decking account. :)

If you use 45x120 or something in that size, it would work. But 28 is going to flex. You’ll just get annoyed every time your dad walks there. Then the deck will dance ;)

Do it right.

Thanks for the response. Damn, why do people buy 28x128 then, as it seems to just be a problem with it :P Although it is cheaper!

Don't complain! You haven't tried 22x95 with c/c 600 and an old, lively, thick aunt on a Midsummer evening ;) hehe

28x120 is however the most common so I think you've made the right choice with that purchase...
But splurge on a couple of extra beams as it gets better and there's less waste...

22x95 is like dinkeytoys... ;)

It pains me to agree with a Malmö fan, but what you write is truly true, Paul. :)

Go RBK!

Yuck... Is it edible??? ;)

We're going to eat you up next season... :wow: ;)

You've spaced the beams too far apart, Paul, and bought ridiculously overpriced decking timber. :) Time to burn it all and start from scratch. ;)

...and we have done so in abundance, which you will likely realize this fall ;)

Ugh stick fighting... Football ftw :)
