Hello!

I am a brand new homeowner of a 1 1/2-story 70s villa with a furnished attic. Unfortunately, the entire upper floor is covered with wood paneling that we really want to remove. What can be done? The wood paneling is nailed to drywall, and I have opened it in some places and it looks like some of the drywall is broken for electrical wires, etc. How difficult is it to take down the wood paneling (I can somewhat estimate that), but how troublesome is it with electrical wiring, putting up new drywall where needed, etc.? Is it something a complete novice can handle? Are there other tips? I heard from someone that you could cover the wood paneling with "Återställare" but then spackle first, could that be accurate? We've considered painting the paneling white, but since it's lacquered, someone said it must be sanded first, which also feels like a huge project. The room is about 50 sqm.
Grateful for help!

What an excellent answer, thank you so much for the help!
Best regards,

One detail; the ROT-gips is 6 mm thick. If you buy 9 mm gips, you get exterior gips intended to be used as wind protection on façades. This is treated with a silicone-based impregnation and cannot be painted.

Oh damn! Have they managed to change that too? Previously, there were only 9 and 12-13 mm in thickness.

8-)

Change that too!?
When is "previously" for you?

ROT-Gipsen has been around for at least 10 years.
