Spontaneously buy a finished laminated board and plane it to the right thickness.

The only question is how do you plane? Do you know someone who has a planer (that can handle the width you decide on)? Otherwise, fine furniture makers use hand planes, but that requires a bit more experience to get right.

You can probably also get the planing done at almost any carpentry workshop, as everyone is guaranteed to have some kind of planer. If it's not a large amount, it probably won't be particularly expensive either.
