When we moved into our house, the previous owners had stacked drainage pipes made of brick (?) from floor to ceiling along one wall in the pantry. The pipes are about 40 cm long/deep and have an inner diameter of about 12-13 cm. Perfect for storing wine (even champagne bottles fit).

Are you thinking of this variant?

Not something I recommend though :). They scratch labels and bottles a lot, and you can't see the bottles so you have to label everything. But if you put them in and let them sit there, and you can keep track of them anyway, it should be good as the temperature around the bottle remains more stable than without.

Yes, they resemble our tegelrör.
I can agree that it's difficult to see the labels on the bottles, but since I have a decent idea of which bottles I have, it works anyway. I haven't encountered any scratched labels or bottles (we've been using the pipes for almost 10 years).

Working on the same project roughly in terms of area. I bought quercia's racks as they are flexible, hold many bottles, and have a good price (the black ones on the sides in the picture). It should be untreated wood, of course, if you're building wooden shelves. The harder, the better. You can't fit much in 2x2 m, so calculate first. Depends on how much you plan to store.
You wouldn't happen to have a few more pictures and maybe share some info about how you built your root cellar?

It doesn't have to be that expensive :)

Paint 400kr
Garden stones+lake stones 900kr
Wine rack 1200kr
Lighting 400kr

Then a little wine, but I'm planning to go limited the first year to see how temperature+humidity are throughout the year. The fine wines will have to stay in the wine cooler for a while longer :)

Filled up some of what you have anyway :)

What kind of wine rack did you buy?

A few years ago, I was working in a wine cellar, it was about 2x2.5m, had plastered walls, gravel on the floor, and shelves from IKEA stained in some grayish shade, lighting with a dimmer and 2 simple chairs at a small table... :D

I drive quercia wine rack. Recommended.
