I have seen something in town that caught my attention. It is a renovated house being clad with wood paneling, but first they wrap the house in wind barrier. Why?

Anyone have a good theory on why they're doing that?

Perhaps protect poor plaster? If there are cracks or holes in the plaster, it's easier to put up a wind barrier than to replaster it. I see the wind barrier as a plus there.
