I built a shelf to place some lists and profiles in. I used an old paper tube about 10cm in diameter that I had lying around. I sawed up some 50cm long pieces and milled grooves in a board to stand them in (think of a very large pan flute).

To attach them to the board, I had the bright idea to fill the grooves I milled with silicone and press the tubes in. It would probably have been a pretty good idea if I had actually used silicone. I noticed today that I instead managed to use a tube of outdoor seal that I didn't even know I had.

I noticed it because the seal was still sticky like when it came out of the tube when I checked today, about 12 hours later.

The only thing I find in the product description is that it should become surface-dry after 48 hours. But will it ever cure through, or is it just as well to try to remove the stickiness and redo it? I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for it to cure, but if it's pointless, I'd rather address it right away.

As far as I know, it will never cure.

Thank you, I realized that after a couple of days, tried to remove the mess, spilled mineral spirits all over the project, threw everything in the trash, and have now decided to come up with another solution :)
