Why am I not hitting regular
Approximately yes... When I put gypsum on the boards, not many screws end up on a stud. The gypsum board doesn't need to be screwed into a stud, so there's no reason to mark exactly where they are before screwing. Along the edges, you screw a couple of cm into the joint compound and in the middle of the board, it ends up where it ends up.B Build101 said:
But if you have a wooden board, e.g. OSB, it's perfectly fine to mount the TV on it with wood screws. That should be sufficient for a TV that is mounted with a few screws. Now, I don't remember for sure, but I think that OSB can hold about 100 kg with a single screw.
I have these screws that came with the wall mounts, I've also bought wood screws.BirgitS said:
A little update, I found a wooden stud and nailed my way to where I think the center is. Now the next problem remains, I've measured both 45 cm and 60 from a known stud, yet I didn't find any other stud at that distance? Could it be 30 cm then I would have still hit a stud at 60...
Edit: the house is from the 70s and I’m starting to suspect now that there's only a standalone stud and no more...

Stop looking. You have a wooden board behind the drywall that will hold it. Try at 30 as well, but logically the next one should be at 60, and you've already been there?B Build101 said:A little update, I've now found a wooden stud and nailed my way to where I think the center is. If the TV weighs 57 kg, it can hang on a screw. However, if you plan to have a stand that moves it out from the wall and allows for tilting, it's wise to screw into the studs or use 4 Molly or some suitable screws that grip well in the OSB/plywood behind the drywall.B Build101 said:
