White porous "stones" in the attic

Hello,

We have white porous "stones" around the chimney in the attic? What could the material be? The house is from the 1940s? I was wondering if it might be asbestos material, but I've never seen it in that format.

It could also be spillage from the masonry. But without a picture, it's very vague guesses. Or if it's blocks, perhaps lättbetong for insulation.

It could be spill, but it feels like it's placed around the chimney ~ 60-70cm out from the chimney all around. Reminds me a bit of pumice stone but white and not as porous.

Probably pumice stone.

It could be spill, but it feels like it is laid around the chimney ~ 60-70cm out from the chimney all around. Reminds a bit of pumice stone but white and not as porous.

Sounds like leftovers from masonry/plastering that have been piled up around the chimney as fire protection.
I assume there is sawdust as insulation in the attic?

Yep, it's sawdust as insulation.

That's what they look like. Also scattered over the chips on parts of the attic, I saw now. Some stones have green pieces in them. @GoC @Stefan N @plåtrickard
