Which wood screw do you buy?
Are there any affordable screws anymore?
I think Heco and others are sufficient for heavier constructions but I am also looking for more delicate wood screws in lengths between 60-120 mm for slightly more delicate applications.

You usually get what you pay for. Is it worth the price?TorpAnders said:
I know someone who found an enormous selection of screws in slightly unusual sizes at some German online store. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name. But maybe try looking in Germany.TorpAnders said:
When a 5mm screw under 120mm costs around 2 kronor each or more, it is not affordable. The price structure for standard screws, in general, is very unhealthy compared to the production cost.O said:
When it comes to slightly more unusual types, they are even worse. I just used up 1000 screws for a sheet metal roof, where the screws cost me 5000 kronor.
I know many scoff at Biltema but I've never had any problems with their wood screws. Under a krona each for these, for example.TorpAnders said:

What type of metal roof did you screw with screws that cost 5 SEK each?

Usually go with Essve here out of old habit. The only one of theirs that disappointed me was their Corrseal decking screws which broke one after another. However, I received new A2 decking screws from the store then.

Biltema's "regular" wood screws with Torx heads have been fantastically good for the past 20 years. I still have many in the old yellow cardboard boxes, and they've never caused trouble. Unfortunately, Biltema has discontinued the entire range, so now it's Hornbach's version instead. They're affordable too. For fine screws, read untreated steel screws with a countersunk slotted head, I've bought from the "German store."Alfredo said:

Essve may not be the cheapest, but I like the quality.
I have also bought InFe at byggmax, but they easily become crooked and break - at least the decking screws/longer wood screws.

I mean the ordinary galvanized indoor screws that were available from 3x15 mm to 6x120. Not outdoor C4.Alfredo said:
