Which toolbox should I buy for Christmas?

Is it for his entire tool storage, so to speak? Or is it for bringing some tools with him when it's time for different projects, or when going to the summer house? For the latter need, I like open tool bags where you can quickly toss in what you think is needed, and you can easily see what you've brought. I think those soft open bags are lousy as everything just ends up in a pile, you might as well use a bucket.

Also, are they mechanic tools or building/renovating house tools he will have in it?
