I will have a timber panel in our great room. The panel will be screwed to every other stud (120cm). The panel has dimensions of 21mmx175mm and has a type of half tongue and groove (overlapping each other). The screws will be hidden.

Which screw should I use? Countersunk head yes, but what thickness and what length? Should I pre-drill the panel before inserting the screw?

Chipboard screw 41 mm perfect....

Thanks :)

Squeezing in another technical question..

I understand that I should screw the panel in at the top of the board to hide the screw under the next board, but what about the bottom edge of the board?
No screw? Feels like the board might warp and bow out at the bottom edge.

Edit
I have now spoken with Nordic Trä & Bygg
They recommended 50mm brad nails at the bottom of the board.
