Which sander is best for sanding drywall joints

About to fill and sand the drywall joints in a renovated room and an MDF-built window reveal.

I'm considering which type of sander works best for these tasks.

The "old" reliable orbital sander or a random orbital sander or some other variant.

For the window reveal, I'm thinking of using a detail sander, is that correct?

What do you use?

If there's not much to sand, do it by hand. Otherwise, rent a giraffe. All to avoid the dust.

Hand-sanding generates an awful amount of sanding dust, and it goes at least as fast as a machine, plus it's easier to feel when it turns out well.

Abranet is good for dust but doesn't provide such a fine finish in my opinion, but it might not matter for the gips. Then there is a vacuum cleaner connection available for orbital sanders. At least for my green Bosch, which I can't remember the numbers for by heart, but you have to look in the blue range.

An eccentric is not a good option for sanding putty. The removal is too extensive.

In a (single) room, I wouldn't consider any machine at all. Hand sanding spackle on drywall goes quite fast.

Yes indeed, and wide enough so it covers the entire seam width and a little more
I usually just use a board that is suitably wide, thick, and flat

Hand sanding without a vacuum cleaner is not something I personally want to recommend. Abranet and Giraffe are good tools but perhaps a bit narrow in their areas of use. I myself use a single-handed orbital sander called Festool ETS125 connected to a vacuum cleaner. Tried before with a two-handed grip but it doesn't give the same feel.

Wurth has pretty good prices on abranet, I think the starter set has the best price at slöjddetaljer.

There are threads here on the forum about abranet if you need convincing
I myself use 120 grit for drywall seams.

Misconception, One room now and many more in the future... Why start the sanding career standing in a room where you and the whole room are covered in sanding dust?

Sorry, you are probably right. Of course, you need something from Festool to make a proper room.
