Which material? Enclose radiator pipes

Hello!

We are going to renovate our living room and plan to enclose the radiator pipes that run along one wall towards the ceiling. The idea is to build a box, and the question is what type of board material we should use?

The rest of the room will be plastered and then painted (there is currently a textured wallpaper).

Should we use gypsum, or is a wooden board of some kind just as good?
