Hello!

I'm going to glue a strip between a glass-tiled wall and a bathtub to prevent water from running between them (it differs by 5 cm). I have a 5 mm plexiglass cut to size + a couple of small pieces that I intend to use as "blocks" to attach to the wall and rest the strip against.

I was just thinking of securing the whole thing with clear bathroom silicone, but the glass expert was skeptical, claiming that special silicone was needed.

What does the forum know?

And it's not until tomorrow...

It should work with silicon. Clean both surfaces with alcohol (or something similar that doesn't damage the plexi) first.

Well, apparently regular bathroom silicone will "eat up" the plexi. Apparently, something special is required after all. Even the man at the paint counter at Bauhaus said a flat no, offered a mounting adhesive which was the only thing he had that would do the job, but it was snot-colored.

I'll call glasis on Monday, and then I can report back.

Well, then I'll have to ask to contribute with the answer key:

For attaching plexiglass transparently and with a filling effect, it is recommended:

Den Braven sealants Clear Fix

Good stuff, adheres, does NOT eat up the plastic, and is TRULY clear, not at all "silicone-shimmery".

Thanks Viktor at Bil & Bussrutor for the knowledge and detective work.

Silicone doesn't "eat" plexi. Not normal construction silicone, at least. I've personally glued/sealed various types with silicone without issues. It doesn't adhere exceptionally well, but it works.

I also think the tube you eventually found is a silicone of some sort.
(Or? "MS polymer" = silicone?)
