Hi forum. I'm going to tile a section above and beside the stove. Most recommend tiling on drywall, but I'm going to tile on a boat where drywall isn't very suitable. There seem to be two camps when it comes to tiling on primed chipboard. But is there any other board that someone can recommend?

If you want something completely free from organic materials, perhaps a fiberfippskiva could be an option?

Hello forum. I am going to tile a bit above and beside the stove. Most recommend tiling on drywall, but I will tile on a boat where drywall is not so good. There seem to be two camps when it comes to tiling on primed particle board. But is there any other board that someone can recommend?
For example, https://plastexperten.se/produkt/glasfiberskiva/

Or a board with an EPS core, e.g., Jackon or equivalent. Adapted for wet rooms and completely inorganic.

I would consider looking at Alloc kitchen wall or Ikea's equivalent instead of tiles...

Less weight, faster, and you can attach the panels to most materials.

What difference does it make if there is chipboard behind the tiles by a stove?

The stove is on a boat, where the humidity can vary a lot, so you'd probably want a non-flexing material.

I'm not sure why particle board would be preferred on a boat? They are extremely moisture-sensitive...
But as mentioned, there are plenty of boards made for wet areas that are supposed to withstand moisture better than both drywall and particle board, and be rigid...
