I need a new hex bolt for our parasol base - but I'm unsure where to buy it. Biltema has a lot of hex bolts, but they are labeled M4 - M12. I've also checked the Bauhaus website. I'm not very familiar with this area, but on the hex bolt I have it only says GU 4.8. The one I'm looking for should withstand a lot of load and be suitable for outdoor use. What should I buy? Thanks for the help.
Yes, buy 19533 or 19534 at Biltema (M12 75 mm long or M12 100 mm long, depending on what you need) if you're close to it.
4.8 is the lowest quality for a bolt/screw. It has a yield strength of 320 MPa and a tensile strength of 800 MPa.
Typically, you use an 8.8 bolt/screw which is 640 MPa in yield strength and a tensile strength of 800 MPa.
The 4 at the beginning stands for 40 percent. And the 8 at the end stands for 800 MPa.
An 8.8 bolt therefore has 80% of 800 MPa as the yield strength (i.e., 640 MPa).
Thank you for the help! The one I have seems very poor - not even stainless despite the fact that the parasol is obviously for outdoor use. But 19534 at biltema is stainless I see - but is it an 8.8 bolt? The length of my current one is 82 mm in total.

I don't think you need to worry about the strength of this screw ... The one you have shows no signs of wear (in a way that could be remedied with a stronger screw), except in the threads ...
It is the threads that are broken - probably after the wind caught the parasol and wobbled it slightly back and forth over a long time. Maybe it won't help with 8.8 bolts? If that's the case, I'll have to replace the bolt every year instead.

The alternative is a screw with a longer unthreaded part, so the forces are not absorbed by the thread ...
I realized that Byggmax is quite close to me. They have bolts for outdoor use for 100 kr/kg. What do you think about the quality? Biltema charges 100 kr for 1 bolt. Big price difference...

Well, that sounds a bit excessive... But if Byggmax is closest to you, shop there... I don't think they have stainless screws in bulk though... If it has threads, it's also a screw, so we've said that... A bolt is what the screw is called before it has threads...
