Hi!
Where can one buy a fashyvel, plaster angle, foot lift, and similar practical accessories if you have a whole house to plaster?

I live in Västerås and have thus tried Bauhaus, Beijer, Byggmax, Jula, and Swedol but came home empty-handed.

The seller at Bauhaus dryly noted that they don't carry such professional tools.

Beijer didn't know what a fashyvel was. When I explained, they suggested I avoid joining panels where they lack beveling, even though I pointed out that it's a necessary evil around doors and windows. They eventually sold me a Surform (plaster rasp) to silence me.

Byggmax was a complete joke in terms of tools.

Jula had never heard of a fashyvel.

The seller at Swedol claimed to have worked in the construction industry for 25 years and suggested using the Surform freehand to achieve the same effect as the fashyvel.

I've also tried Google without finding any webshop offering such tools.

So, where do you buy your stuff?

I think Beijer/Bauhaus have basically everything you need in terms of tools. Otherwise, you might need to turn to the respective manufacturer and check their resellers.

And when it comes to chamfering edges, I always go freehand with the drywall knife.

I've built a bit for myself but damn, I didn't know it existed, I just cut a piece with a knife, it's not that precise since it will be plastered over anyway.

Gipsvinkel?? is it just a huuuge angle square?
Fotlift?? Is it a lever so you lift the sheet a bit from the floor with your foot??

I've seen Fashyvel at Bauhaus here in Gothenburg. Personally, I've used a surform/gypsum rasp and a blade knife with good results.

http://www.norgips.se/index0,442.htm, call them and ask about ÅF.

I don't know why one actually has this, if you plan to have a ceiling moulding, it's not super important for the plasterboard to fit tightly against the ceiling. I guess those who work a lot with plasterboard can answer what practical use a plasterboard lift has. I placed a fiberboard panel at the bottom for spacing.

While you're there, a carrying handle for boards is recommended http://www.jula.se/handtag-for-skivor-124698 Great if you need to carry a lot of boards.

Not professional tools, but cheap enough to see if they are of any use.

I don't know what you need a try square for, the plaster is cut at right angles so you just measure equally from both long sides and place a ruler/long level/board and cut along it.

Fashyvel aka "cutting putty edge" is only achieved by cutting with a regular drywall knife, if you bevel this with a sanding block you might as well skip it. It's intended to prevent the paper on the drywall from "flaking" even though many think the putty is supposed to penetrate there. You can buy a drywall angle. Depending on how much you actually plan to drywall. We bought a few at Värmdö shopping center but people threw them away anyway. Foot lift.... Just ask someone to lift the board for you instead.

The only place I would ask for advice is probably Beijer in Lissma.
Best regards, Madde

Foot lift is good if you're building alone. You can't always be two.

However, you can take a piece of flat iron and weld a piece of threaded rod underneath, or something else reasonably round, to have a substitute. If you have a large gap, a piece of plywood will also work.

Thank you for all the answers.

So regarding the fashyveln, can you just as well cut with a drywall knife? How precise does it need to be? What I'm afraid of is that it will bulge outward when you apply the tape and putty.

Tape + putty, it's going to be a bump.

I skipped tape in the two joints I recently produced, just putty. We'll see if I can walk up the stairs without noticing any potential mess it turns into.

Hyvel has Gyproc ring and check with them who sells nearby where you live. I have a Gyproc myself. Gipsvinkel is really good and can be bought at harald nyborg. http://www.gyproc.se/produkter/verktyg

To Verktygsgurun: Well, I found Gyproc's tool page. The question is just where to buy the tools. In Västerås, they list Beijer as a retailer. Maybe you can ask them to order the tools?

Yes, Beijer delivers to you. Otherwise, there is usually some form of store where the craftsmen/industries buy their tools and industrial supplies... They surely have them in stock.
