My house I live in today is built with siporex blocks (built in 1972). I would like to replace a door with a window/wall section. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding a retailer that sells siporex blocks with a width of 700mm.
Can anyone point me in the right direction (the block is not much help unfortunately)?

Best regards,
Daniel

Xella are the ones manufacturing Ytong nowadays. Check with them which retailers sell ytong blocks. 700mm will probably be hard to find as basically all aerated concrete manufacturers use 600mm.

Post a request in your local Facebook group, someone is bound to be doing some renovations and a wall or two often gets torn down. You should be able to get that. Otherwise, the hardware store has blocks, but you will likely need to join them.

Does it have to be Siporex/Ytong? Regular lecablock usually work just as well. But it depends on what you are going to do and in which wall.

Siporex is quite easy to cut, so if you don't need too many, it might be a solution. Works with a handsaw.

I bought Siporex blocks at Bauhaus, about 70mm x 600mm x 400mm, for about 70kr each. There might be another size available. I bought a lightweight concrete handsaw at Jula for maybe 100 kr (enormous saw teeth), if it's not just for cutting off a small piece, I think a regular handsaw wears out quite a bit.

Hornbach, K-Bygg, etc., surely have alternatives. There are other brands too.
