I am in the process of building a tractor shed similar to what the picture shows. The left compartment is 3.5m and the right one is 2.5m. Roof beams made of construction timber over these compartments need to be joined, but how?
In my view, the simplest way is to overlap them over the support beam in the middle and screw/nail them together. Is there any reason not to do that?
What are the alternatives?

A 3D model of a tractor shed with two compartments; one holds a red tractor, the other a blue trailer. The structure has wooden beams and a slanted roof.

Splice where you have the posts and pull beams on either side of the posts?
