I'm going to install underfloor heating on the upper floor. According to the underfloor heating supplier, I should place a vapor barrier on top of the heating pipes and then have floor gypsum on that, followed by laminate flooring.

The supplier states that the vapor barrier should be PE film, thickness 0.2 mm.

I've looked at various vapor barriers and can't really see any major differences.

Would you recommend any of these:

Underlay Provent 3mm

PE vapor brake film

Tupex underlay

first works for floors without fixed damping

second only plastic, complement with paper or or foam

third works for floors without fixed damping

I will be using the following floor:

That floor has pre-attached cushioning. Would it work with the cheaper vapor barrier then? That is, number two.

Is step damping needed between the underfloor heating and the floor gypsum? Why should there be a vapor barrier at all?

yeah. it would be strange with more cushioning

Step noise insulation is not needed. It is already on the laminate floor. But a vapor barrier is needed. According to the manufacturer, this is necessary to prevent any condensation in the construction from being absorbed into the back of the planks.

jo. blir konstigt med mera dämpning
Ok, so do the others have built-in floor damping?

I would like to go with number two since it is cheaper, but it doesn't say how thick it is. The supplier wants it to be at least 0.2mm.

you need to find an excuse to go to Bauhaus then. it usually says on the packaging anyway

Kährs uses T-packaging plastic wrap

You should probably remove the floor's "original damping mat" if this is used.
yes. if you want to go up in price

Nah, it feels a bit unnecessarily hi-tech actually. Looks expensive and also I would have to remove the soundproofing system that's under the laminate floor and that feels really unnecessary. I really just want a simple vapor barrier that meets the requirements of a vapor barrier and is at least 2 mm.

Got a response from the flooring supplier that I should not use any of the above vapor barriers as they are underlays combined with PE film. I should only have PE film that is 0.2 mm thick (age-resistant vapor barrier).

What should I buy then? I've googled a bit but it's hard to find it. Thought it would be available at Bauhaus or other building markets.
