I'm in the process of sprucing up the laundry room. I've chipped away loose plaster and sanded down some old paint. I'm considering what to use to plaster the surface. The foundation is uninsulated so I don't want it to become airtight, rather use something that allows for breathability. Should I use plaster mortar C or gypsum plaster and then apply silicate paint on it?

Or should I use something else based on how the surface looks? I want a painted surface.

  • Damaged plaster on a basement wall with exposed pipes; loose render and old paint have been removed, showing a rough, uneven surface needing repair.
  • Close-up of a wall in a laundry room with chipped plaster and peeling paint, showing a rough and uneven surface, possibly prepared for renovation.

Hi!

How did it go for you? Did you use plaster mortar C and silicate paint?

Hello!

How did it go for you? Did you use c-puts and silicate paint?
No, it ended up being gypsum plaster and silicate paint. Right or wrong, I'm not sure, but it was easy to work with and the result was good. The paint hasn't started peeling yet, so I think it'll be fine Bathroom with white tiles, radiator, toilet, and sink. Walls finished with plaster and silicate paint. Copper pipes visible and a striped towel hangs nearby. Laundry room with white cabinets, a washing machine, dryer, potted plant, tennis balls, and a radiator. The walls are finished with plaster and silicate paint. Wall finished with gypsum plaster and silicate paint near a small, textured glass window and a radiator below.

Hello
How has it gone with the plastered wall, two years later?
Isn't it a basement wall you plastered?
I'm considering plastering our basement wall in our new build.
