Hi,
It's time to start renovating our upper floor. The house is from '46, and after some googling, I guess the material on the walls is Tretex, see the image below.
I'm now considering what I should do with this. As you can see in the picture, there are some blemishes and cracks. Can I just fill, sand, and wallpaper? Or should it be replaced - and if so, with what?

Drywall with 6mm on the wall. Works perfectly.

It's fine to just use putty and apply strips over joints and in corners.

There are several threads here about this with different tips. Both variants are already here but I would like to add that if you decide to keep it, paint the seams first so they don't absorb a lot of moisture and swell.

I tore off the treetex and put up 13 gypsum, then the company had no trouble with salning.

If it's treetex, it's soft so you can easily stick a needle through it. If there are just a few cracks like the one in the picture, perhaps the easiest solution is to use paper strips and filler. If there are significant uneven areas, it might be easier to replace the boards with gypsum. It's better from a fire safety standpoint as well.
