Hello,

I have just bought a radus built in 1971. In the garage (built into the house), the walls have a somewhat strange texture that I'm not quite sure what it is. The last time I saw this material was when I was in high school. Our school had such a ceiling.

The garage is to be converted into a hobby car garage. Things will be screwed onto the walls and so on. So the question is, what are these boards and what should be "done about them"...? Plaster? Drywall? Are the boards sturdy enough to screw into? Do they contain asbestos?

Grateful for all answers.

hello

I think they look like träullsskivor
they are excellent for plastering, but you should prime them before applying the topcoat

do they hold to screw something into? Or do you have to drill through them into the concrete wall and plug there if you want to attach, for example, tracks for Elfa shelves?

Maybe it's easier to plaster the ceiling on top rather than smooth it?

Does not contain asbestos, dampens sound well, not great for hanging heavy items.
