Greenish insulation found behind door frame in an 80s-era house. Appears treated, possibly with Cuprinol. Removed for possible respiratory concerns. Green insulation material found behind window or door trim in a house, suspected to be treated with Cuprinol, from a mid-1980s installation.

For some time I have felt that the airways have been affected by something in a relatively newly purchased house. In search of this, I dismantled the moldings on doors and windows today. To my surprise, I found an insulation or packing material, if you will, that is more of a green fluorescent shade than anything else. My spontaneous reaction is that it might have been treated with Cuprinol or similar impregnation, but at the same time, why would someone do that? Doors and windows were installed in the mid-80s.

Can anyone explain what this is?

I plan to rip it out and replace it immediately. Apologies for the poor pictures.

Have updated myself a bit. There shall be posts for the beams. The outer edge will rest on the foundation wall. One of the beams will rest at the other end on the chimney breast.

The problem with there being a thicker part where the beam rests remains. Do we just make a small box?

For some time I've noticed that my airways have been affected by something in a relatively newly purchased house. In search of the cause, I removed the trim around doors and windows today. To my surprise, I found an insulation or stuffing, if you will, that is more of a glowing green color than anything else. My initial reaction is that it might be treated with Cuprinol or a similar preservative, but at the same time, why would someone do that? Doors and windows were installed in the mid-'80s.

Can anyone explain what this is?

Could it have been against something made of copper, like a window flashing, for example? Rockwool that has been up against water pipes can turn green.
