The stairs lead down to the basement and the pictures are taken in the basement under the stairs. The stringer of the stairs is painted white/beige. The other unpainted beams don't seem to be weight-bearing, so I'm wondering if I can tear them away. But the question is where the actual suspension is attached. In the joists on the upper floor?

Grateful for any help I can get.

  • Under a staircase, showing wooden beams, a pipe wrapped in tape, electrical outlets, and hooks. Query about removing beams for support analysis.
8-) The wall vang is load-bearing of course and the other vang is surely anchored in the floor structure. >:( So leave those alone! ;D
Based on your pictures, you can probably remove the tongue-and-groove boards where the coat hook is.
::) Because you're not planning to remove the ladder, are you? :-/

Thanks for the response, but it's not the roof I need to remove, rather the unpainted parts where the power cables run in the picture. Of course, I'm not removing the carriages.

:o Ahaa, it's the brown boards you should remove. :)
I think you can do it because it's very unusual to put the vangar on such boards to get support.

Try removing one, then you can see what it looks like behind. I assume there are more boards/planks that the vangen is attached to. ;)
