Hello

The question concerns a house built in 1925 with a mansard roof.

Inside the kneewall, there seems to be a thicker beam? towards the outer wall that stands vertically and is somewhat thicker than the wall, as well as a thick horizontal beam? in the floor. The wall itself consists of two planks with some kind of paper between them (about 9cm thick).

None of the planks seem to attach to the rafters above (I haven't checked all of them because there's so much sawdust and it's hard to access).

Does the plank wall lead the weight down into the horizontal beam, or is it more of a fill within some form of "frame construction"?

  • Wood shavings and beams inside an attic space with visible planks and a horizontal beam, suggesting an unfinished structure.
  • Wooden panel wall in attic space with exposed beams and floorboards, small window, and visible construction materials.
