what dimension for joists for small deck?
Calculating the purchase for groundwork around the house and want to know how deep we should dig for a terrace.
Say you are going to build a small 3.5 x 7.5 wooden terrace on the lawn.
Decking seems to be around 28mm thick.
But how sturdy should the joists be?
(yes, I'm a little embarrassed not to look for the answer)

It depends on how many plintar each beam rests on. If you choose two plintar per beam, you need 45x220 C 24. If you choose three, 45x120 is sufficient. c/c 600 mm is suitable for 28 mm decking.

In many situations, you can manage well without plinths. It's only if the ground slopes significantly or is generally unreliable that you need plinths. Concrete slabs are often an excellent solution. Biltema's adjustable plinths are probably good for those who prefer convenience, if they can handle the load. Otherwise, you can saw support legs from pressure-treated lumber. Dig away the sod and lay out a gardening fabric (black fabric, not landscaping fabric) to keep weeds away.
