I'm going to build a terrace on top of a storage shed, everything will be built from scratch. What is the most common/best way to construct such a terrace floor/storage roof? Since it's a storage shed, there aren't any huge requirements, but it shouldn't leak, so to speak. The construction should also include drainage. I assume this has been done before?

One idea I had is to install subfloor panels with a slight slope just below the planned floorboards, between the joists. The panels end outside the building at the eaves, where the water is collected in a gutter. Then everything is covered with roofing felt, including up onto the beams.

I have made a similar solution. But I don't have a real storage under the terrace. A low space for the lawn mower and various winter storage of clay pots, etc.

I installed roofing of corrugated plastic (the cheapest solution I could find) in the compartments. Then I installed sheet metal (drip plates for windows) on the sides of the beams, so water doesn't run down between the plastic and the beam. I have installed a plastic gutter at the far end (because it's the only thing that drops down below the beams, wanting maximum ceiling height at the entrance).

Now I'm going to repeat the construction at our summer house. And I've come up with an improvement. If you mount the plastic on loose frames of light lumber, e.g., battens, you can easily remove them for cleaning of needles/leaves, etc.

Rickard.
I would say the most common is to build a regular cardboard roof and then place a decking on top, it's common on everything from carports to fully insulated and heated extensions. For the latter, welded cardboard is a given, but I believe it works fine to do it yourself in many cases where the risks are lower.
