Considering building a larger water trough/water basin to collect rainwater from a shed on the property. The idea is to be able to dip a watering can. Dimensions: just under 1.5m * 1m + about 1m deep (rough estimate). How should this be constructed? Pour it entirely on-site or build with, for example, concrete blocks and then plaster. No plants, as the water level will likely vary greatly. (I could also consider some wood construction in the same style as the house + pond liner). All tips are gratefully accepted!
I'm not quite sure what you actually want, somewhere to collect rainwater for watering? In that case, the easiest thing is just to put a barrel there, either a 200-liter plastic barrel that you can enclose if you find it too unsightly, or there are nice oak barrels, but they do cost a bit. Or is it rather a water mirror you want?
Oak water barrels are really nice, and luckily I already have a couple. This time, I was thinking of a larger unit. Oak barrels tend to dry apart if there isn't enough water in them. I also want to be able to lower the entire watering can without any problems. The container should also be able to hold water from a fairly large roof. It should be square. Not sure if that made it clearer...
You should empty for the winter anyway, but yes, you should have concrete with a lot of cement in it for it to be considered waterproof. Probably a concrete station can add more chemicals to improve it even more.
Bury an IBC tank, and craft a lid from larch decking or pressure-treated decking.

If you go with the plastic tank, a rattle protection is needed as well, such as water-resistant plywood.
