Hello I am going to build a bathroom and utility entrance in an existing room with an exterior door. To make the bathroom as large as possible, I would like to place the wall in line perpendicularly to the inside of the door on the hinge side. Thus, there will not be space for door trim on the left side from the inside. Will it look odd and are there any practical obstacles?

From your description, it sounds like the wall will overlap the door frame, and in that case, it could be very tricky if someone wants to replace that door one day.

It should be possible to replace it from the outside. But you could possibly set the wall just outside the frame. But does it look strange to only have trim on the top and right side while just having, for example, a quarter round on the left side?
