Wall cladding, log wall or stud wall
Hello. I am renovating an old log house from the early 1800s and had planned to leave a wall exposed so that the logs are visible. But now that wall is in too poor condition.
1. Is there any wall cladding that looks like an old rustic log wall without looking fake?
2. Alternatively, is there a stone wall cladding that I can use to cover the wall and the fireplace that is against the same wall? It is masonry. In that case, I want both the wall and the stove to be the same material?

Interesting idea. I would probably have chosen a more common wall covering.
But I think you have to look around in the stores that sell such to see if there is something that fits. I find it really difficult to judge from a picture in an online store whether it would be good or not.

Yes, I have googled a bit and found natural stone that you assemble. However, it becomes quite heavy and I don't understand what kind of base you can use to glue/mortar these onto.S Spik_och_Skruv said:
Has anyone tried it or has any experience with it?
I haven't tried cladding a wall with natural stone, but as you said, it will be heavy. Instead of having the wall support it, it's probably better to use the natural stone to build a faux wall in front of the one you want to clad, which will then support itself.
This, of course, depends entirely on how thick it becomes, so if these natural stones are relatively thin, it won't be as heavy.
