I just want to share a warning about Biltema's decking screws, see pictures below. I laid 20 sqm of decking in the spring of 2018, the first 15 with screws of an unknown brand and about 5 sqm with Biltema's screws. The unknown brand has no problems, but now I note that about 90% of Biltema's screws have simply broken. You'll have a hard time finding worse crap, and I hope not many of you have bought and used the same garbage!

Broken Biltema deck screws on wooden planks, showing several snapped screws in various positions. A box of Biltema deck screws labeled 4.2 x 55 mm, 1000 pieces. The packaging includes multilingual text and specifications for screw type C4.

I have had the same problem with Biltema's anchor screw. And it's a screw that you definitely want to hold

My decks at home are screwed with decking screws from Byggmax.
Not a single one has broken after installation, but a few broke during the actual screwing process.
The deck is about 7 years old.
At the cottage, we’ve built a terrace with decking screws from essve, same there, none have broken.
However, those screws are significantly more expensive than Byggmax.

But good to know that you shouldn’t buy from Biltema anyway :)

Are you returning them to Biltema?

You'll make a complaint to Biltema, right?
I will certainly do that, I just haven't had the time yet.
I just hope it won't be a problem that I lack a receipt...

I only buy screws from well-known brands because I trust them.

It's important not to install the decking too tightly because when the boards expand, the decking rises and the screws break.

Hmmm, seems like they all broke off in more or less the same place. Must have been a bad batch.

I have never had these kinds of problems with other screw brands before and I always screw in the same way. Should not break regardless

Have the same problem with Biltema's stainless steel, you can easily notice that there are no margins at all as you easily break them if, for example, you try to screw the decking into a beam and hit a knot or something similar that makes it more difficult. Usually breaks right where the threads start.

That's exactly how the screws from essve that I used for the fence boards look... More than half have broken after two winters. Heco stainless, on the other hand, hold up.

Similar to when I bought screws at a hardware store (don't remember which one, don't want to wrongly accuse).
They snapped right at the head when I tightened them by hand. Where was I screwing? An angle bracket on the dining table... Damn, I was furious... Every screw that went into a newly drilled hole snapped. So it took 2 screws per hole...

The same problem exists with Beijer's own decking screw "Raptor". It is (nowadays) more or less well-known that C4 screws do not withstand the wood's movements over time.

Who buys C4 when there are A4 screws? There's not that much of a price difference.
