About to demolish the bathroom and want to know what type of boards are on the wall/ceiling.

They are a few millimeters thick and rock hard.

What is the board called? What is it made of?

I know I tore off a similar board but in a different color in the kitchen a few years ago.
Where it served as a backsplash above the sink.
A bathroom with beige wall and ceiling boards, small window with bottles on the sill, teal bathtub below, and radiator on the right wall. Panel on a bathroom wall, possibly made of hard, thin material, with a towel rail and washing machine visible. Inquiry about the panel's type and composition. Close-up of a cracked, hard panel on a ceiling with wooden beams, seeking identification for bathroom renovation.

Could it be some type of perstorps board or do they always have that special pattern with stripes? We had a perstorp kitchen table when I was little. Otherwise, I would guess some form of moisture-resistant board.

looks like regular white oil-tempered hardboard?

Thanks for the reply, but it's not masonite.

It's hard all the way through, masonite is soft in the core.

Does anyone know what perstorpsskivan is made of, eternit?

Melamine! Cured plastic.

Perstorpskivor are plastic laminates:
Perstorp-Plattan consists of kraft paper impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde varnish with a surface layer of plastic made from melamine and formaldehyde.

Perstorpskivor existed for 10 years before Virrvarr was created and even after that, it was sold with several different patterns.

Perstorps boards consist of a thin layer of high-pressure laminate made of paper, phenolic resin, and melamine on particle board. They can be high-pressure laminate in your boards, available in varying thicknesses, and are rock hard.

Didn't see any risks in tearing down then? Even if they break?

Soft in the core? No, oil-hardened masonite is probably hard all the way through. Regular masonite, however, can indeed be quite soft.

It looks like sheets of laminate. Had it in my bathroom too. Wear gloves when you take it down, otherwise you'll quickly get cuts. My house is from '62, so maybe it was something they did back then. How old is the house/bathroom?

Oil or not, hardboard is equally "soft" or "hard" in both cases. And compared to this board, they are like cotton.

The bathroom is from 1967

Then it's probably the same as I had, it doesn't break in the same way as masonite but cracks in tears when pulled and is much stiffer than the masonite.
