It's amazing what women come up with when building a garage..................

Planning to build a garage with 1.5 floors and an upper floor for the boy.
It will be 45m² large.

She just saw on TV a family that had a partially glass floor on the upper floor for better lighting on the ground floor. Oh my, wouldn't that be nice...............

Now the government has decided that I should embark on finding out what material it is (PSG-Glass, I believe), where to buy it (not the faintest idea), and what it costs (probably an arm and a leg).

And I've decided to find an alternative to glass ;-)
Could acrylic glass be an alternative?

CC in the floor structure is 600mm, and the width of that glass should be 1000mm

I would start with a glass company, some bigger firm that doesn't just do car glass and stuff. Glasklart for example if you live in Uppsala, they have been nice to talk to but the chance you live here is probably small :)
I myself have a wife who watches everything from Timell & Ernst to Byggslaget, lots of ideas come from that :D:p:eek:

The problem with them watching Ernst & Co is that they KNOW it's possible. What they don't know is what it will cost and that it's not as easy as the program claims. A few years ago, it was enough to say: IT'S NOT POSSIBLE and that was it... Now they want river stones in the shower, glass floors, dormer windows, round windows, etc. etc.

How did it go?

I'm planning to have a glass floor myself and it would be fun to hear how you solved it, how thick the glass needs to be and so on...
