Hello!

As in the title above, how do you best resolve the join between a plastered wall and a ceiling that is lowered with plasterboards?

How do you achieve the joint between the wall and the ceiling?

I don't want any ceiling moldings; it should be smooth and crack-free...

I was thinking of applying microlit on the ceiling and walls, but should you lay a fiber tape in the crack between the wall and ceiling or just spackle and let the microlit run a bit down on the wall from the ceiling?

Best regards, Kalle

If you have microlit on both walls and ceiling, it's only the gap between them that could crack (provided good preparation work). A small, light, paintable silicone joint should be enough.

Silicone is never paintable, you probably mean latex/acrylic joint.

Of course, a good groundwork has been done :)

OK, so you only apply a latex sealant, no fiber cloth or equivalent at the transition? Regards, Kalle

Correct, I actually made a mistake myself and it doesn't work very well. Read about whether it is paintable.

I am quite convinced that the joint should be done the same way as other joints that preferably should not crack.

That is, embed a paper strip in the joint. Then I suspect that the microlite should go over the joint slightly. Latex works to conceal a gap, but it provides no reinforcement.

Great, thanks for the help, I've done some house fixing and then I'll probably try to have the microlit's seam 2-3 cm down the wall. I think it will be great. Thanks for the tips and ideas!! Best regards, Kalle
