Hello everyone!
Does anyone have suggestions on how we could spruce up our basement stairs (see pictures)?
Sand?
Paint?
Plaster?
Other?
Regards
Concrete basement stairs with a metal door at the bottom, bordered by plaster walls, and a patch of grass at the top. Concrete basement stairs with a rough surface, suggesting potential renovation options like sanding, painting, or finishing. A car is parked nearby. Concrete basement stairs with a crack in the wall corner, a metal door ajar, and a drain on the floor, suggesting renovation needs.

I have used a pressure washer at a very close range, so I would like to say that it is washed. Or were you thinking about something else?
Best regards

You can acid wash the stairs and get a nice surface!
Or sand all the concrete and treat it with a suitable product.

Thanks for the tips, I'm leaning towards sanding.
What would you treat it with afterwards or should you leave it untreated to avoid maintenance?

You can also dress it with some stone product, there are some variants for example at [link]
Thanks for the tip, it might be something for the steps. I would also like to fix the sides.

We placed their thin (12mm) slate on our entrance steps in Danish terrazzo. We are very pleased. If you're going to paint on concrete, silicate paint is preferred.

I would probably paint the walls and maybe some epoxy resin with sand in it for the steps.

It worked well and feels like a durable system.
Sometimes things take a little longer than planned, but now it’s done :)
Tore away the garbage room and bricked up and plastered.
Cleaned with the pressure washer and painted with silicate paint (hope it lasts a while).
Painted the well and new doorstop.
Cast a new door plinth, new door, new lamp.
Painted railing and removed the lawn and laid gravel with slabs.
Also made a small flower bed.

  • Concrete stairwell with new silicate-painted walls, a white door, black light fixture, and a newly laid gravel and flower bed area above.

How has the paint held up; is it lasting? I'm just starting to plan a renovation this spring.

Looks decent still.
