I am in the process of opening up between two rooms in a 1950s house. In one room, there is an old worn parquet floor that does not hold up as it should. In the other room, there is 30mm tongue-and-groove timber as flooring. The parquet floor is 15mm, so I will remove it. Build up the joists and then lay tongue-and-groove or chipboard and finally a parquet floor on top to make the floor uniform. What do those of you with a little more experience with flooring say?

Regards,

Daniel

Shavings should become the smoothest, cheapest, and easiest to lay.

If I lay 22mm chipboard flooring, do I need to join on the joists, or can it be laid continuously without getting creaks in the floor? (Have CC60 joists).

both models exist.
It should be quite clear what kind it is.
