That is the question.

Yes, what do you say: Should I foam in the gap between the wall and the ventilation pipe (in plastic)? Or will it breathe through the gap even when I put ventilation grilles on both the outside and inside?

This is about a basement.
See images.

  • Hand holding a piece of porous material near a gap in a basement wall with a plastic ventilation pipe inside.
  • Plastic ventilation pipe with a gap in a wall, possibly prepared for insulation with foam, located in a basement setting.
I would definitely have injected some foam sealant.

I would probably have used sealant like facade sealant. And depending on the distance between the module pipe and the hole wall, I might have placed a backing rod.
