Hi.

I am planning to build an outbuilding and carport on stilts, or at least without a concrete slab, and I'm considering using concrete slabs to lay the joists on.

The thing is, the foundation is currently compacted 0-40, and it's not exactly easy to dig into that, not to mention it might disrupt the support for the stilts when they are lowered. I could place everything on garden slabs (well, not the carport) if it weren't for the fact that it's not as secure in a storm.

Any tips on how to get the stilts down? Drill?

An excavator will be on site soon and could create straight trenches that we can then refill. Is that sufficient?
