Hello!
I'm attaching steel track floor channels with nail plugs in my concrete floor (for a steel stud interior wall). I have no problems drilling into the concrete with the drill, but it takes forever to get through the steel track. I would gladly accept tips on how to get through the steel track smoothly. Currently, I tap a bit with a center punch, drill a bit with a dull drill bit, tap a bit with the center punch, and drill a bit. The steel track, which is about 0.1 mm thin, takes 5 minutes to get through, and then it's like drilling through butter when I reach the hard concrete...

Tips are warmly welcomed! :)

Do you have the right drill?

If I remember correctly, it was easier to make the hole with something like a decking screw.

Now you have a hard surface unlike me, but what if you make the holes before you place it against the floor?

Usually drill straight through with the hilti drill seems odd?

Just keep pressing with the concrete drill.

I agree with the previous speaker - I go straight through with the hammer drill, no problems there. Then I recommend SPIX expander nails instead of nail plugs as the head is larger and contributes to a stronger installation when working with steel frames against concrete.

A SPIX expanding nail for steel-to-concrete installation with a larger head for stronger connections.

Are you driving in the right direction with the drill? ;)

If it doesn't work by just pressing with the concrete drill, you can try using a multi-material drill until you get through the sheet, then switch machines.

For example, Bosch Multi Construction

Or Irwin's equivalent.
or another one, these are just the two I know of

Then just keep drilling until you've gotten through the sheet.

Drill with a metal drill bit first?
