What is the classification of the regular planed studs at places like Byggmax and Bauhaus etc? It doesn't say anything about it. Is C18 the most common? Can someone clarify?

Don't know what they specifically sell but C14 is common if nothing else is stated.

Okay, I'll turn the question around instead. I need 45x170 in c18 about 60 meters, where can I buy it conveniently, cheaply, etc. in Gothenburg? Is it available at, for example, Bauhaus, K-Rauta, Hornbach?

What are you going to use it for? You can sort the lumber yourself when you pick it up at Byggmax or wherever you plan to buy it.

Will use it for floor joists in my framework, also need some 45x195 in c18 according to the sizing I have looked at.

The graded studs are not made from any kind of stronger wood, they are simply selected because they contain few defects. So if you pick your own timber, you can select good studs even from the ungraded ones.

well ... is it that simple?

edit:
but I'm not really sure:

Yes, actually. The different classes came from essentially the same tree (-species), but are sorted into different durability classes using knot presence, grain deviation, etc.

Partille trä I saw has C18 graded timber, 31.50:-/meter for 170x45. Is it a good price?

Not cheap but not expensive either

You can very well do your own sorting of construction timber, look at the following: No rot or through cracks, for C 24 visual sorting which is then called T2 applies that edge knot must not be over half the width max 22.5mm which is the most common reason for downgrading, knot on the flat side max 1/4 of the width then there are additional rules about knot groups, curvature, distortion and flat bend but you obviously choose reasonably straight pieces. Good luck /MLj

If I remember correctly, it's likely southern timber in that region and then classification "byggregel" but will become c14 in the future (I believe) as the former is being phased out in the south.
