Tiling on painted drywall?

Soon it's time to paint the newly built kitchen, but we're considering whether to paint everything or leave the plaster unpainted where the tiles will go.

Do not paint on plaster if you are going to tile.

Better to leave the plaster untreated if you can!

I thought the fix might not hold if there's paint underneath. Then I'll draw where it should be painted and not.

I don't think there are any major differences in adhesion, but it's unnecessary to putty/sand/paint the surfaces that will be tiled.

I have seen professional tilers freak out because the painter painted behind the tiles during renovations.

So avoid painting!
