Planning to install heavy tiles/stone on the walls in a hallway where there is no moisture as in a wet room. The existing walls are made of particle board. Now to the question. Is it sufficient to put a gypsum or fiber cement board on top of the particle board to eliminate the movements that occur in the wood material, or should I remove the particle board completely and reframe with steel studs?
