Threshold too high for robot vacuum
Hello!
I've got myself a robot vacuum (from Xiaomi) and it works perfectly fine, except it can't get into the kitchen. There's an old, sturdy wooden threshold from way back that's quite deep under the door frame. I've tried various ways to fix a small ramp that doesn't look terrible, but since it tries to enter the kitchen by turning, the front wheel never gets onto the ramp. I'm starting to consider if lowering the threshold is necessary. However, I have no idea how to do that since it's completely built in and can't be removed without destroying a lot (recently renovated). Can you plane down a threshold on site in any way?

No answers? :/ What do you think about sanding down a couple of millimeters?U UglyBob said:Hi!
I've got myself a robot vacuum (from Xiaomi) and it's working great, except it can't get out into the kitchen. There's an old sturdy handcrafted threshold from ancient times, which of course extends quite a bit under the door frame. I've tried in various ways to fix a small ramp that doesn't look completely terrible, but since it wants to get into the kitchen by swinging out, the front wheel never gets up on the ramp. I'm starting to consider if I have to lower the threshold instead. However, I have no idea how since it's completely built-in and can't be removed without damaging a lot there (newly renovated). Can you plane down a threshold in place somehow?
Build your own "threshold" and test what height the robot can manage before you start modifying the existing one. Upload a picture of your threshold, with height measurements, so it's easier to provide suggestions.U UglyBob said:
Here is a suggestion on how you can do it:
