Speaking of windproof fabric in "plastic," there was a roll of such at a construction site, so I tried blowing through the fabric; complete stop.

Planked houses existed at least for a while after the war.
 
The nice thing about the fabric is that it releases moisture/water in one direction and is waterproof in the other. I actually used a leftover piece as a tarp for a while.
