Some time ago, I had to try to understand what happens if the underfloor heating pipes come "too high up" in the concrete slab. The experts' answer was that it works just fine as long as the pipes don't physically protrude and risk being damaged. However, I was informed that the heat might feel a bit "striped" since it doesn't even out as well in the thinner top layer. Not something I noticed once it was finished. It should be the same thing even if you use leveling compound.
