Do you think one should have a building board under the drywall?
Is the additional cost justified? Which walls should be reinforced with building boards?

Best regards,
David

It's not so much about reinforcing the wall from a strength standpoint as it is about ensuring that it's always super easy to put things up on the wall. I've realized that before my partner is satisfied, half of the inventory list will be hung on the wall, and you don't want to deal with drywall anchors then.

I consider the extra cost for the sheet material negligible in this context.

I agree with the previous speaker, YES, YES, EVERYONE!!!

JappJappJa. It becomes quieter and a much more solid FEELING in the house too....

Agree with all the previous speakers, but with one addition;
Insulate the interior walls as well, when you hear the same song from the stereo for the 158th time, you'll regret not spending that little extra cost.

But what should one choose, chipboard, OSB or råspont ?? Which have you chosen?

OSB, 119SEK per sheet at Kruta. Prickly to handle but easy to work with. Also good for other things during construction time, temporary floor for example...:)

Many use OSB board and then settle for 6 mm renovation plasterboard on top of this. I have built this way myself and it works well.
Yes, it probably works, but I'll be using regular 13 mm plasterboard myself.

What is OSB board? ???

(I'm a newbie) :-[
